Redpilled

Summary

Audric's been assigned his hardest task yet. Get his two best friends to find out they both have each other's name on their wrists... all while hiding his own. Originally a collaboration with Balance.

Redpilled

"Kingfisher," Wither slurs, a little too wasted than their normal night out, "If you were my soulmate I'd be the happiest God in existence right now."

Audric, or Kingfisher as he'd been using as a fake name for years now, takes the bottle out of Wither's hands and places it on the precarious pile, "God's have soulmates too?"

Wither nods, "Yeah, I had like one, but then it didn't happen, and then I kept getting new names but they were probably mortals so I kept losing them without really meeting them. And now I've got one."

Wither fumbles with his sleeves, shoving his wrist precariously close to Audric’s face.

"Boss man, there's two names here." Two ridiculously familiar names.

Wither moves his hand back towards his face, squinting to make out the names on his wrist... when was the last time he checked the names out?

"Wait, Io and Audric?" He reads out... "wait Moosh is your soulmate and you never told her?"

Wither gives a slow blink, "KF, you have to help me, also, you know people right? Do you think you can help me find the other one? Uh... Audric?"

Audric nods, "I'll try my best, but I can't guarantee anything."

They talk for a bit more before the alcohol hits, and soon they're in dreamland in each other's arms.

---

That had been a month ago. And Audric’s evil master plan would come into fruition.

He'd planned an outing with the two of them to a particular restaurant he'd stumbled upon once. As he gave them the coords to travel to, he tells the restaurant owner to make this the most romantic thing his friends have done, and hands him enough emeralds and diamonds to make the other cry.

Well now to find something to do. Like get kidnapped or something. Find an excuse to not make it.

His excuse comes up walking to him, and with a maniacal grin, he drags Les off to an 'adventure.'

'He's so good at this wingman business' he thinks to himself as he messages them:

KF: hey, something came up, won't make it. but the places reserved so they'll know u can go in if u give them my name

Eventually Les abandons him in favor of working on some project or other, and he takes off one glove to stare at the names.

Acacius and Io. Well he knew Moosh was actually Io, and his memories as Ryzsarda, although faint, did reveal Wither's true name.

So he could just, tell them, "Hey my name is Audric, I'm your soulmate and I've known this whole time."

It's not like he doesn't love them. He does, he'd give up his life for them both. It's just.

He doesn't feel like he deserves them.

And hell the marks can be wrong sometimes so maybe one day he'd wake up with a blank wrist and the other two with just each other's name.

----

It's another day, and he's sandwiched in between Wither and Moosh.

"Kingfisher, why do you always wear gloves around us?"

"No reason~" He lies, "I just like the feeling of my gloves." And also he'd rather die before his marks were revealed.

"But it's like a million degrees out right now? Aren't your hands like sweaty?"

He laughs, "No way, I've got some good gloves. They're enchanted to keep me nice and refreshed no matter the temperature."

Wither is giving his hands a focused stare. One that speaks nothing good to come from it and he begins to talk, "Yeah but why do they go past your wrists? Aren't you a blank, so why the secrecy?"

Ah his greatest lie. The one he majorly regrets, telling them he had no names on his wrist.

"I didn't like showing any skin Wither, dearest, so even a little peek of my wrists was too much, and now I'm just too used to these gloves to change them."

Audric doesn't like the silence that follows before Wither speaks up again, "You trusts us right?" At the nod he continues, "so you should take off the gloves! I bet it'll feel nice."

Wither's hands slowly snake their way closer to Audric's and in his panic he accidentally activates a teleportation spell, and ends up at home.

Damn at least they can have their movie night like a date instead.
